Rachel Eichholtz

I create to connect with others in a way that matters. The process of creating connects us to our Creator as we become more aware of the beauty in our surroundings, in each other, and in ourselves. My hands are always making whether it’s artwork or creating community. By painting outdoors, I’m often able to bring two of my favorite groups of people together- trail runners and artists. Sometimes I’m the girl on the trail painting, and sometimes I’m the girl on the trail running. All of these things connect me to the heart of the community, and to me, that’s what matters most.

My style of painting can be described as accurate yet loose, colorful, and expressive. While my favorite way of painting is the alla prima method in oils, I like to explore and challenge myself by working in other types of media such as pastel, acrylic, and gouache. I highly value the practice of keeping a sketchbook or painting journal to respond to moments in real life capturing landscapes, figures, florals, and anything that inspires me in the moment. The result doesn’t have to be perfect. Let each captured moment serve as fuel to the creative fire. All you need is a minute.

I began painting because I was an injured athlete looking for my next challenge. While this disciplined, objective training mindset progressed my learning process quickly, I am thankful to have matured in my creative journey to value and prioritize the emotional, relational side of creating. As a primarily self-taught artist, I am grateful to have studied with many current masters and professionals. I serve on the leadership team with the Booth Artists’ Guild and offer workshops at the Booth Art Academy. I love to take groups en plein air painting for workshops though the Blue Ridge Arts Association and The Quinlan. My home is in Rome, Georgia where I have often hosted art shows and plein air events. My workshops, classes, and open studios at Studio Siri bring together artists of all ages, levels, and interests. I cannot wait to help you create in a way that matters to you.
